Palometa
Scientific name: Trachinotus goodei
Appearance:
This fish is grayish-bluish-greenish on its head and on the dorsal side. Its ventral side is yellowish while the sides are silvery. Its elongated dorsal and anal fins have dark anterior lobes. This fish has a deep body, with four narrow bars on the sides, and a fifth fin near the tail. It doesn’t have any scutes.
Habitat:
Palometa can be seen in clear waters along beaches and bays, and can sometimes be found over reefs
Florida locations:
Palometa are most common in south Florida.
