Lane Snapper
Scientific name: Lutjanus synagris
Appearance:
The body of the lane snapper is silvery-pink to reddish in color, with irregular pink and yellow lines on the sides. It has a deep body with a pointed snout. A dark black spot as large as the eye is located on its side. Its caudal fin has a black outer margin. It has a double dorsal fin, a rounded anal fin, and short pectoral fins.
Habitat:
The young lane snapper live inshore in grass beds and reefs, while the adults live offshore.
Florida locations:
The lane snapper is abundant in South Florida, especially in the Florida Keys.
